FAQ about Sifa

1 What happens if an occupational safety specialist is not appointed?
According to ASiG, every employer is obliged to appoint an occupational safety specialist. If this does not happen, the entrepreneur runs the risk - due to a lack of specialist knowledge - of not being able to implement occupational health and safety in accordance with the regulations. If this results in an accident or occupational illness, the entrepreneur can be held personally liable. This can mean fines, claims for damages or even imprisonment.
2 What options are there for safety-related support?
Depending on the number of employees and the potential for danger, there are various ways to approach the safety-related support of a company

Standard support Alternative support
up to 10 employees more than 10 employees up to 50 employees

3 Is the Sifa responsible if an accident occurs?
In the first instance, the entrepreneur is always liable for the occupational safety of the entrepreneur, as the Sifa has no authority to issue instructions and initially has an advisory function. The Sifa is therefore not liable in the event of an accident at work. However, the Sifa is fully liable if it can be proven that the quality of its safety-related advice does not meet the state of the art or that not all of the required aspects of occupational safety have been implemented and documented in writing.
