1 When do I need a fire safety officer?
There is no Germany-wide regulation regarding the obligation to appoint a fire safety officer. The legal regulations for this are issued at state level. The obligation to appoint a fire safety officer may arise, for example, from the building regulations, the requirements of the responsible insurance company or the risk assessment.
2How many fire protection assistants do I need?
The number of fire protection assistants required depends on the number of employees, the spatial conditions and the work activities, such as the handling of hazardous substances. In administrative operations or similar, a proportion of 5% is usually sufficient, in production and storage facilities a proportion of 10% is sufficient. However, any shift work and absence due to illness or vacation must be taken into account here.
